On display in the right-hand part of this compartment are paintings of various genres: a winter landscape by Jost Cornelisz Droochsloot (1596–1666), a Portrait of an Officer in Armour by Jan Anthonisz van Ravesteyn (1579–1657), genre scenes, including Merry Company in a Tavern by Dirk Hals (1591–1656). His celebrated elder brother, Frans Hals (between 1581 and 1585 – 1666), painted the Portrait of a Man and Portrait of a Young Man Holding a Glove.
The seascape-painter Simon de Vlieger (1600/01–1653) produced the monumental depiction of The Arrival of William of Orange in Rotterdam (Flotilla on the Maas near Rotterdam), while the large-format view of The River Maas near Dordrecht is by Maerten Fransz van der Hulst (active in Leiden 1630–1645).
